Our Stories | International cooperation in Tenerife highlights rescEU capability
A medical support operation in Tenerife has demonstrated the importance of international cooperation and rapid response capability in complex cross-border situations.
The Norwegian rescEU ambulance aircraft was deployed in connection with the Hantavirus situation on board MS Hondius.
The mission was carried out on behalf of the Air Ambulance Service HF as part of the EU’s rescEU cooperation framework, which enables European countries to support one another during emergencies requiring specialised resources and expertise.
The operation brought together flight crew, medical personnel, technical teams and OCC specialists from across the Avincis network. With an established base in Tenerife, Avincis teams in Spain also provided vital local support to ensure the mission could be carried out safely and efficiently.
This deployment highlights how coordination, preparedness and international collaboration are essential when responding to time-critical medical situations far from home.
