Milano, Italy – 19th September 2024 – Avincis, Europe’s largest and leading aerial emergency service operator, successfully concluded the PMAX (Period of Maximum Effort) of the summer firefighting season at the end of August. Over the 62-day period, the dedicated fleet of Canadair 415 firefighting aircraft operated by Avincis logged an impressive 4,000 flight hours, conducted 1,500 missions, and carried out 15,000 drops, deploying a total of 92 million litres of water, tirelessly combating forest fires across various regions.
Operating from their six bases at Ciampino Airport, Lamezia Terme, Genova, Olbia, Trapani and , Avincis maintained 100% operational availability of the 15 Canadair aircraft, ensuring they were ready to respond immediately to any wildfire emergencies, with two successfully completed rescEU (European Civil Protection Mechanism) missions in Albania and Greece.
This operational excellence reflects the dedication of Avincis’ highly-trained pilots, operation coordinators, technicians and engineers, who work together to protect both communities and the environment.
